Almond cookies. Chocolates and truffles. Hand-crafted breads. Freshly-baked croissants. Ice creams! Volendam’s 2 in 1 (“the new bakery”) combines two long-time neighborhood favorites into one warm, welcoming shop. Happy visitors can snag an oven-fresh tea cake, pair it with a hot coffee, and stroll away with a bag full of delicious chocolates … all in one stop.

Each butter-brushed dome of pastry stands about one inch tall, from the hand-crimped base to the sliver of almond on the crown. Ours came fresh from the oven, still warm enough to emit a little puff of aromatic steam when pulled apart. Divine.
